New Library Tec de Monterrey Opening
Transforming higher education in Mexico to generate learning environments to meet the challenges facing the 21st century is what has been proposed by Tecnologico de Monterrey; an example of how this purpose is becoming a reality is its new Library building, designed by Sasaki Associates in collaboration with the local offices GLR Arquitectos and rdlp arquitectos.
Salvador Alva, President of Tecnológico de Monterrey at the inauguration ceremony, said: "With this new space, the Tec community is taking on the challenge of changing history, giving the future a more daring and prosperous personality. Today we are taking a firm step on the road to take our country towards a knowledge economy. "
"It is a very ambitious project that I had in mind to dream about the library of the future; a space that not only is for having books and generate knowledge, but also seeks a higher purpose: the connection and co-creation of ideas.
The library of the future is a building with spaces of knowledge, meeting, collision of ideas, reflection, inspiration, rest, connection, innovation, entrepreneurship, incubation, learning, debate, creativity. A flexible space that will adapt to what our students and teachers demand over time, "he said.
