OCEANA is a mixed-use condo-hotel created for commercial, tourist, and multi-family activities that is located on the corner of 28th Street with Cozumel, a few meters from one of the Mayan Riviera’s most popular beaches known as Playa Mamitas. The goal of the project was to create a harmonious atmosphere in a green and comfortable setting in one of Playa del Carmen’s most vibrant areas.

OCEANA’s main target market are tourists, since it offers them the chance to rent an apartment close to the beach with the comfort of a hotel and proximity to 5th Avenue.

The complex was planned according to the qualities of the environment, inspired by local craftsmanship and traditional Mexican building techniques that reference endemic textures.

This idea was executed using fresh and contemporary concepts, reflected in the careful selection and use of materials, especially the exposed board-formed white concrete and wood. The architecture reflects contemporary trends and aims to become an urban reference for both the complex’s residents and visitors.

Access to the complex is located on 28th Street, through the courtyard by foot or the parking garage by car. The lobby is a visual focal point at the stairs and access ramp.

The design aimed to open up the building towards the street and urban environment to create a connection with the pedestrian street and nearby beach, balancing the relationship with the city and privacy.
